This thesis aims to find out what kind of plants favorable for the vegetation restoration of abandoned mines in hilly areas of Ningzhen mountain in Jiangsu province. Under such aim, a lot of experiments were done through meliorating the soil, observing the growing process of six chosen plants in this hilly area and determining the Physiological and Biochemical index of these plants, and the final results are as follows:The first question is the soil for restoration. So there were soil samples taken from ten different areas were tested and they were tagged to be Sample 1, Sample 2 and so on. At last, Sample 3 was the best, but it had low percent of available phosphorus and organic matter because of the long term cultivation. In order to avoid such disadvantage, appropriate amount of materials that is helpful for promoting the plants should be added when the sample 3 soil was used.Secondly, the plant and plant disposition for restoration should be determined by the specific situation of the bared slope in hilly areas, for example, areas with slope below 45 o could be restored by spray sowing. As for the ones with slope below 30 o or foothill belt area, shrubs and small arbors were the most preferable and the weeping liana plants, such as Jassminum nudiflorum, ,Euonymus fortunei, Forsythia suspensa, could be planted on the top of slopes.Thirdly, content of relative water, Chlorophyll, free proline content , MDA, soluble sugar and relative conductivity of all the observed plants'leaves was gradually increasing from March to October and the Drought Resistance presents very different situation.Fourthly, through the coordinate comprehensive evaluation, the drought resistance of six kinds of plants during four months were gotten and ordered as follows: In March, Platycladus orientalis>Ligustrum quihoui Carr>Lespedeza bicolor> Amorpha fruticosa> Trifolium repens> Festuca arundinacea; In May, Platycladus orientalis>Ligustrum quihoui Carr>Festuca arundinacea>Amorpha fruticosa>Lespedeza bicolor>Trifolium repens; In August, Festuca arundinacea>Platycladus orientalis>Ligustrum quihoui Carr>Amorpha fruticosa>Trifolium repens>Lespedeza bicolor; In October, Amorpha fruticosa>Platycladus orientalis>Festuca arundinacea>Ligustrum quihoui Carr>Trifolium repens>Lespedeza bicolor;Last, after analyzing and observing the six kinds of plant, Platycladus orientalis's drought resistance and adaptability was the highest of the list, and the second was Ligustrum quihoui, while Lespedeza bicolor was the lowest. Among the shrubs and herbaceous plants, Amorpha fruticosa and Festuca arundinacea respectively occupied the top position.
