SummaryIn this paper,Chinese medical herb angelica and radix astragali were packed and stored by different drying and storaging method during 2007- 2008 in order to select their best packed and stored conditions. The main results are as follows:1.Different drying method had significant effects on contents of active ingredient. The volatile oil was highest by freeze drying,in which the ferulic acid and extract content was lowest.Fire drying was better than others, but high temperatune could reduce the accumulation of active ingredient.Fire drying under 40℃is the best for angelica.2.If long-term stored, packaging dried angelica with exhausting vacuum bag after cleaning by water is optimized, which resulted in less weight loss, higher extract and volatile oil. However,if stored for fresh use, fresh angelica should be packaged in exhausting vacuum bag after cleaning by sorghum spirit and stored under low temperatures if possible, which resulted in less weight loss and longer fresh time, but considering volatile oil and extract content, using d ried angelica is better in storage.3.The influencing factors on extract content follow as water content>packaging>temperature. The optimum storage conditions were packed filling CO2 and stored under 5℃with 15%water content, resulting in 65.54%of the extract. The influencing factors for ferulic acid follow as water content>packaging>temperature. The optimum storage conditions were packed filling CO2 and stored under 5℃with 15%of water content, resulting in 0.045%of ferulic acid. The influencing factors on volatile oil follow as temperature>packaging>water content. The optimum conditions were packed in exhausting vacuum and stored under 5℃with 10%of water, resulting in 0.45%of volatile oil.4.To a greater extent, vacuum freeze-drying could guarantee the appearance and color astragaloside for further processing and storage has a very good value and practical applications.Judging from the active ingredient,50℃short drying, high content of active ingredient is called the ideal choice.5.If stored for long-term use,the radixs astragali should be packaged with vacuum-exhausted bags after cleaning by water and dried, which resulted in less weight loss, higher extract and volatile oil. However,if stored for fresh use,the fresh radix astragali should be packaged in vacuum-exhausted bags after cleaning by sorghum alcohol and stored under low temperatures if possible, which resulted in less loss and longer fresh time.Considering volatile oil and extract content,it is better to use the dried radix astragali in storage.6.The influencing factor for extract content follow as packaging>water content>temperature. The optimum storage conditions were packed filling stored under 25℃with 10%water content, resulting in 50.72%of the extract content. The influencing factor for amylase follow as packaging>temperature>water content. The optimum storage conditions were packed filling stored under 5℃with 13%water content, resulting in 7.41%of the amylase. The influencing factor, for astragalosid follow as packaging>water content>temperature. The optimum storage conditions were packed filling CO2 and stored under 5℃with 16%water content, resulting in 0.087%of the astragalosid.
