Study On Stream Fish Fauna And Its Resources In The Northwest Of Jiangxi Province

Survey had been made aiming at the wild fish resources of mountain streams (upstream of Xiuhe River and its tributaries,of the water system flowing into Yangtze River directly in Ruichang and Jiujiang county and of the water system flowing into Poyang Lake directly in Dean county) in the northwest of Jiangxi province from April, 2006 to April,2008 respectively.The primary results were showed as follows:1.5629 specimens,including ninety-four species,belonging to sixty-three genera,fifteen families and four orders,were collected.Among these,50 species are stream fish,belonging to thirty-three genera,twelve families and three orders. Cypriniformes,including 34 species,is the most species-rich order,account for 68.00%of total stream fish.2.Six new records of fish fauna in Jiangxi province were found such as:Rectoris luxiensis,Botia reevesae,Vanmanenia stenosoma,Vanmanenia xinyiensis, Pseudobagrus taeniatus and Rhinogobius duospihts.3.Survey had been made aiming at the wild fish resources in Lushan Nature Reserve in Jiangxi province in April,August,2006 and May,2007,respectively.1320 specimens,including seventeen species,belonging to seventeen genera,eight families and four orders,were collected.The fishes of Cyprinidae are the main component on the fish fauna of the reserve,consisting of 10 species and 58.82%in all species.The comparison of species biodiversity had been made among the streams which sampling sites located.The results indicated that(1) the Shanon-Wiener diversity index of Changhong stream(H:2.6),Wulizhou stream(H:2.5) and Gaolong stream(H:2.4) were higher,but lower in the Lushanlong stream(H:0.6),Jiandaoxia stream(H:0.8) and Shimenjian stream(H:1.3);(2) the Evenness index of Changhong stream(E:0.9) and Wulizhou stream(E:0.8) were higher,but lower in Lushanlong stream(E:0.3) and Jiandaoxia stream(E:0.4);(3) the dominant population of Lushanlong stream(λ:0.8) and Jiandaoxia stream(λ:0.8),Zacco platypus,are remarkable.4.Survey had been made aiming at the wild fish resources in Jiulingshan Nature Reserve in Jiangxi province in October,2007.952 specimens,including thirty-nine species,belonging to thirty-three genera,twelve families and three orders,were collected.The fishes of Cyprinidae are the main component on the fish fauna of the reserve,consisting of 21 species and 53.85%in all species.The comparison of species biodiversity had been made among the streams which sampling sites located. The results indicated that(1) the Shanon- Wiener diversity index of Qinshan station stream(H:3.2) was the highest,but lowest in Heshangping stream(H:1.9);the Evenness index of all stream was similar(E:0.7~0.9) and the dominant population was not distinct(λ:0.1~0.3).5.As an independent physical geography unit,the stream fish fauna in the northwest of Jiangxi province was compared with that in the northeast and south of Jiangxi province,Xiangjiang River,Minjiang River and Qiantangjiang River based on UPGMA.The cluster analysis indicated that there were two clustering groups:the northwest of Jiangxi province and the northeast of Jiangxi province constituted a subgroup,which made a clustering group with Xiangjiang River and Qiantangjiang River;the other clustering group consisted of the south of Jiangxi province and Minjiang River.6.In the world's zoogeographical divisions,China lies in Oriential Region and Holarctic Region.The fish formation and evolution of fish fauna in mountain region in the northwest of Jiangxi province bear a great significance with the historical event in geology.Like status of Northeastern Jiangxi province,the Northwest of Jiangxi province belongs to Poyang Lake Basin,and it belongs to Oriential Region, South-east Asiatic subregion and East China area.7.The change of species biodiversity and community structure function of stream fish in the northwest of Jiangxi province are mainly due to human-induced disturbance,including habitat alteration,pollution,overfishing.Alteration of physical habitat is the most significant threat to fish species biodiversity and ecosystem function such as dam construction for power and drifting.Conservation recommendation:intensifying the biological study of stream fish;strengthening the protection of stream fish;removing abandoned small-scale water conservancy facilities in order to restore its original ecological environment.
