Ficus sarmentosa var.impressa is a kind of large evergreen woody vine in the Ficus, with great potential of application for its landscaping function, edibleness and medicinal properties.Hard wood cutting propagation was systematicly studied for the fist time with the materials of one-year-old shoots of Ficus sarmentosa var.impressa in this paper.Meanwhile, the mechanism of adventitious root organogenesis from the physiological biochemistry and anatomy aspect. The main results were as follows:1. Studies on the key technology of cutting propagation:The results indicated that the hormones took great effects on cutting propagation. The rooting percentage of the treatment group was obviously higher than that of the CK. All the rooting characters indicated that IBA could significantly promote the rooting propagation. Cutting time is appropriate in mid-April,for the effect of temperature on the rooting was of great impact. After immersed in the low concentration hormone for a long time, the cuttings took a ideal rooting percentage in the perlite and the mixed substrate while took a poor result in the vermiculite. The relations between all the rooting characters were unlimitedly significant positive correlation. The cutting percentage and adventitious root number were the most important characters in descripting the cutting rooting.2. Studies on the physiology during adventitious root formation:Endogenous hormones had a corresponding relationship with the rootings, IAA/ABA ratio could be seen as the symptom of rootings.Exogenous hormone took great promotion for the accumulation of endogenous IAA.The contents of soluble sugar, soluble protein and total nitrogen had all gone through the of"rise-fall-rise"change process with the time of rootings.Active enzyme system played a most part on the induction of rooting primordium and rooting expression. The activities of SOD,POD and PPO performed corresponding changes during the rooting formation.PPO was the most important role on the the induction of root primordia, the occurrence of adventitious root and the formation of callus.MDA contents experienced a"rise-fall"change while the chlorophyll content"fall-rise-fall".The results indicated exogenous hormones could slow the aging process of cuttings and maintain the activities of the physiological state, which might do favor for the rootings.Ficus sarmentosa var. impressa shared a high content of flavonoids, which could do bad to the cutting.3. Studies on the anatomy during adventitious root formation: Adventitious roots were developed from the induced primodium which were originated from the vascular cambium cells touching with the pith ray.No latency primodium were found initially.Though no primodium were found in the callus, according to the external morphology of the cutting, Ficus sarmentosa var.impressa was belonged to the comprehensive rooting-type.
