In order to know the leaf phenotype traits, genetic characteristics and the zld(t) gene's function of zebra leaf with dwarf mutant rice y. In this paper, some characteristics and inheritance were investigated of the zebra leaf with dwarf mutant rice y, as well as the zld(t) gene was mapped. The main results were as follows:1. Studies have shown that zebra leaf with dwarf mutant rice y appear the color characteristics of light green and yellow stripe, and all of the leaves keep the same pattern. Leaves showed uniform light yellow after rice panicle mature. compared with the original vatiety 9311, zebra leaf with dwarf mutant rice y possessed decreasing grain number, dwarf with multi-tillering, small spikelet and longer growing stage.2. Genetic analysis showed that the zebra leaf was controlled by a recessive nuclear genes with multi-effect, the gene was named as zld(t) temporarily.3. Chlorophyll content showed that zebra leaf and dwarf mutant rice y chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b and carotenoid content were significantly lower than that of the original variety 9311 at the four-leaf stage, booting stage and heading stage.4. The zld(t) gene was mapped on the location between the marker ZL-4 and ZL-14 along the long arm side of the eleventh chromosome of rice, with the genetic distances of marker ZL-4 was 0.23cM, and the marker ZL-14 was 0.12cM.According to the characters and gene mapping of the zebra leaf with dwarf mutant rice y, we conclude that the y is a new zebra leaf mutant.
