In this paper, studies the relationship between timber carrying capacity and timber injury and studies the crack growth mechanism by acoustic emission non-destructive detection techniques and fracture mechanics theory of strain energy release rate. This paper studies crack grows process for wood with crack and without crack by the acoustic emission technique . To determine (1) acoustic emission characteristics of wood damage and analysis of statistical distribution of the acoustic emission. (2) the acoustic emission curves are more effective than curves to forecast the critical load of wood crack grow, and can identify the crack propagation early. What's more, according to the Griffith fracture mechanics energy theory and strain energy release rate theory, Derivation the function containing only one variables(the size of the timber crack: a) of carrying capacity and timber damage. What' more fitting the function curves of Birch by experimental.
