Indoor air quality is related to human's life.Everyday people spend most of their time in building.In face of the polluted chemistry gases produced by living environment,which bring worse influence on people's healthy of body and heart,people are in great need of improving indoor air quality to get better living environment.Conformance with people's requests of health,green and eco-life style,plants application have been received more and more concern.In present paper,several indoor plants-Chlorophytum comosum',Chlorophytum comosum'Vittatum",Hedera helix,Epipremnum aureum(Scindapus aureus), Sansevieritrifasciat 'Laurentii"were measured and evaluated with their ability of removal of formaldehyde,through being putting into a sealed chamber with contaminated air.Through comparison and studies of the physiological hardness of the leaves of detected plants growing in contaminated air for different periods of time,we found some plants with high ability of absorbing formaldehyde separately and with high resistance to these poisonous airs as well.Moreover,some results had been gained as the following:Different Plants are different to the formaldehyde absorption effect under the different formaldehyde density condition.In this experiment along with formaldehyde gas density elevating,the majority of Plants Present a drop tendency to the formaldehyde gas Percentage clearance.Get a conclusion which combined the Physiology index sign variety to the clearance rate siz eof the ofmraldehyde from the whole Plant:When pours into the volume of formaldehyde is 5μl,after Seven hours,the five plants have absorbed all of formaldehyde;When pours into the volume of formaldehyde is 10μl,the best is Epipremnum aurenm(Scindapus aureus),next is Hedera helix,Chlorophytum comosnm',Chlorophytum comosum'Vittatum",Sansevieritrifasciat 'Laurentii";When pours into the volume of formaldehyde is 15μl,the best is Epipremnum aureum(Scindapus aureus),next is Chlorophytum comosum',Hedera helix,Chlorophytum comosum'Vittatum", Sansevieritrifasciat 'Laurentii";In potted plants,besides foliage absorb harmful gases,its'soils and microorganism in soils also can absorb some harmful gases.Soil+Plant+Case make up of a purify set which can absorb indoor formaldehyde.And it is economical and no side-effect.It's the best green purify-air-set at present.The changes of chlorophyll contents,the activity of peroxides,MDA contents in leaves of these ordinary potted ornamental plants polluted by benzene are measured with spectrophotometry.The results showed that chlorophyll contents in leaves of plants decrease,the activity of peroxides and MDA increase remarkably.The biggest change is Chlorophytum comosum,the second is Sansevieria trifasciata'Laurentii',and the third is Scindapsus aureus,the smallest is Syngoninm podophyllum'Gold Allusion'. According to general analysis,the sequence of the ability of decontamination was that:the Epipremnum aureum(Scindapus aureus) is best,Sansevieritrifasciat 'Laurentii"is the Weakest.
