1.EFFECTS OF SUPPLEMENTAL FATTY ACID CALCIUM ON MILK PERFORMANCE AND COMPOSITIONS12 Holstein cows were used to examine the effects of fatty acid calcium supplementation on milk production and milk compositions. The cows were randomly allocated tO three groups of four cows each, based on parity, days in milk and previous mean milk yield. The control group was fed on a basal concentrate, the two trial groups were fed respectively basal concentrate plus 100g or 200g fatty acid calcium. The results indicated that cows consuming concentrates supplemented with fatty acid calcium tended to increase their milk yield.Group of cows which fed 200g fatty acid calcium produced more milk and 4%fat corrected milk than those fed either fed 100g fatty acid calcium or the control.2.Effects of fatty acid calcium on Content of Serum Calcium, Phosphorus and Hydroxyproline in Cows12 Holstein cows were used to examine the effects of fatty acid calcium supplementation on milk production and milk compositions. The cows were randomly allocated to three groups of four cows each, based on parity, days in milk and previous mean milk yield. The control group was fed on a basal concentrate, the two trial groups were fed respectively basal concentrate plus 100g or 200g fatty acid calcium. The content of serum calcium, phosphorus and hydroxyproline was assayed once a week. The result showed that there was no significant differences in content of serum phosphorus and hydroxyproline among groups(P>0.05),daily supplement of 200g fatty acid calcium increased the serum calcium content after 4 weeks(P<0.05), therefore, the addition of fatty acid calcium did not affect the content of serum phosphorus and hydroxyproline, however, the addition of 200g fatty acid calcium per day for each COW could enhance the absorption of calcium.3.RUMEN FERMENTATION OF COW UNDER DIFFERENT FATTY ACID CALCIUM SUPPLEMENTING LEVELSix 12-month old Hostein cows with average live weight of 259 kg were fitted with permanent ruminal fistulae. The experimental diets are composed of fatty acid calcium and chopped rice stalk.Fatty acid calcium was supplied at 150g/d,250g/d, 350g/d and 450g/d in each of four experimental groups respectively.Rice stalk was fed ad libitum.Acetate, propionate and ammonia concentrations and pH values of rumen fluid samples were measured. The results indicated that:The pH values and ammonia, acetate and propionate concentrations of rumen fluid increased with fatty acid calcium soaps level(P<0.01).Postprandial peak of acetate and propionate postponed with increased fatty acid calcium soaps level. And acetate/propionate ratio had no difference(P>0.05).NH3-N concentrate was decreased significantly(P<0.01) with increased fatty acid calcium level.
