Taking the alpine grassland as an example, this paper surveyed the distribution features of the macro soil animals in seven different subclass-grassland types of alpine grassland. During the period of the research, a total of 3414 soil animals (macro- and meso- animals) individuals was captured and classified into 4 classes, 12 orders and 44families. In this area, the dominant groups of soil animals were 3 sorts, accounting for 45.28% of the total, and the common groups of soil animals were 15 sorts, occupying 47.25% of the total, and the rare groups of soil animals were 19 sorts, making up 7.06% of the total. Moreover, the ultra-rare groups of soil animals were 7 sorts, accounting for 0.41% of the total, of which six belong to endemic groups.As far as vertical distribution of soil animals (macro- and meso- animals) of seven plots was concerned, it was significantly showed that the individual and group number of soil animals accumulated in the plots. On the other hand, biodiversity index exhibited strong rules, that is to say, the more complex I-layer community structure, the higher diversity, the more stable community was, but III-layer community structure was opposite to those. At the level distribution of soil animals (macro- and meso- animals), obvious rules was also observed in biodiversity index, that is to say, the more complex community structure of shady slope, the higher diversity, the more stable community in the third-order grassland was, while the community structure was on the contrary of those in artificial grassland. Furthermore, the change of individual numbers of soil animal along with time was as follows: June > September > August > May. In addition, the trend on the individual numbers of soil animal along with time changed as: June > May > August > September.Based on the analyses of community similarity and cluster, the results basically presented the uniformity. Seven plots were prominently divided into two large groups, one was flat-ground population which consisted of waste grassland, first-order grassland, flood-bed grassland and artificial grassland, and the other was mountainous population which was composed of sunny and shady slope of the third-order grassland, the second-order grassland. According to correlation analysis, there was a significant positive correlation between the individual or group numbers of soil animal and soil temperature. In contrast, the individual or group numbers of soil animal has an obvious negative correlation with pH.
