The antioxidation capacities of dry flower buds in 20 representative rose cultivars and 4 wild rose were studied with a variety of test methods and evaluation methods. In order to select excellent rose cultivars or wild rose in antioxidation capacities, to provide a scientific basis for extending in practice and produce new and good rose cultivars. Harvesting time and drying methods of rose buds were studied in the experiment. In order to minimize the harvesting time and drying methods impact on the rose buds antioxidant capacity and to exploit the excellent healthy protection efficacy of the natural antioxidation.â… The antioxidations capacities of 20 representative rose cultivars and 4 wild rose were characterized by using total antioxidant reactivity units (TARU), superoxide anion resistance reactivity unit (SARRU), hydroxyl radical resistance reactivity unit (HRRRU), flavonid and anthocyanin contents as antioxidation indices. The results indicated that:1 The TARU of'Saixizi', the SARRU of'Daguomeigui'and the HRRRU of'Xiangshuierhao'have their distinct advantage in the dry buds of 20 representative rose cultivars severally. The dry bud of'Suyu'has the most flavonid contents .The contents of anthocyanin in'Shanxianmeigui'dry bud is the highest.2 The TARU of'Saixizi', the SARRU of'Nuanhong', the HRRRU of'Xiangshuierhao', the flavonid contents of'Nuanhong'and the anthocyanin contents have their distinct advantage in the fresh buds of 20 representative rose cultivars severally.3 The differences of antioxidation capacities of wild rose buds were significant. Weihai wild rose buds had the highest antioxidation capacities. Respectively, the antioxidation capacities of Hunchun wild rose were the lowest.4 The results indicated that most significant (P<0.01) correlations existed between SHRC and the contents of anthocyanin. There were no significant correlations among other indices.5 According to the hierarchical clustering procedure, 20 rose cultivars could be clustered into 3 clusters. The clustering result showed that the antioxidant capacities of rose cultivars were closely correlated with introduction areas, not colors and types of the flowers.â…¡In order to make sure the best harvesting time and drying methods .The antioxidations capacities of rose was characterized by using total antioxidant reactivity units (TARU), superoxide anion resistance reactivity unit (SARRU), hydroxyl radical resistance reactivity unit (HRRRU), flavonid and anthocyanin contents as antioxidation indices. The results showed that:1 The optimum time for flower buds picking in a day was between 5:00~6:00 am. In the time the antioxidation capacities of flower buds were the strongest. Furthermore, the buds picking should be finished before 8:00 am.2 The antioxidation capacities of fresh flower buds were preferably at the growth stage of small bud and big bud. However the production of flower buds was low. The best harvesting time was big bud stage.3 The anther determined the antioxidation capacities of rose flower bud. The antioxidation capacity of anther was better than Petal and other parts.4 Comparison of the color,Fragrance, Character and antioxidation index of drying rose bud comprehensively. .The classified quality of the drying method was ranked: Microwave drying >Oven drying >Insolation Vacuum drying> Freeze-drying. The result showed that the best drying method was microwave drying.
