Monopterus albus is one of the economically important fish species in China.It is widely distributed all over China except cold areas with high altitude such as Xinjiang and Xizang.There are three kinds of the Monopterus albus by body color in the natural population.It has been found in practice that the yellow Monopterus albus grows faster than the cyan and the gray.The research about the separation of generation F1,some biological characteristics have been done for the purpose of making the body color of the Monopterus albus into controllable level,and providing theoretical and practical guidance for breeding,reproduction and aquaculture.From October 2006 to May 2008,1128 specimens collected from the surrounding area of the south Lake in Wuhan were used for studies on growth,fecuodity,body color separation of generation F1 and nutrient contents in the muscle of the Monopterus albus with the different body color types.The following are the main results:1.The experiment of self-mating of the parents with the same body color types shows that:the isozybotic degree of the body color gene of Monopterus albus is high.For the yellow Monopterus albus,filial generation is accounted for 91.33%yellow,8.67% cyan;filial generation of the cyan Monopterus albus is accounted for 96.46%cyan, 2.98%yellow and 0.56%gray;and the filial generation of the gray Monopterus albus is accounted for 99.06%gray,0.94%cyan;different levels of illumination have no effect on the body color of Monopterus albus.Having been inferred from the experiment results, the body color of Monopterus albus is controlled by its gene.2.The relationship between the body weight and the body length can be expressed:yellow Monopterus albus W=0.0009L2.9832;cyan Monopterus albus W=0.0003L3.3084;gray Monopterus albus W=0.O005L3.1478.But the relationship between the body weight and the body length is significantly different between the yellow Monopterus albus and the gray Monopterus albus(P<0.05).3.In ageⅠand ageⅡcondition factor the yellow Monopterus albus is more than the cyan Monopterus albus.From ageⅢto ageⅣcondition factor the yellow Monopterus albus is less than the cyan Monopterus albus.The gray Monopterus albus condition factor is less than the yellow Monopterus albus and the cyan Monopterus albus.4.From ageⅡto ageⅣ,the body weight between the yellow Monopterus albus and the cyan Monopterus albus is not significantly different(P>0.05).In ageⅣ,the body weight beween the yellow Monopterus albus and the gray Monopterus albus is significantly different(P<0.05).In ageⅢandⅣthe body weight between the yellow Monopterus albus and the gray Monopterus albus is significantly different(P<0.05).5.The results between correlation and regressions analysis indicates that the fecundity of the fish could be fluctuated by the variations of the body length and the body weight.The relationship of the fecundity between the body length and the body weight can be expressed with power,cubic.6.There are no significant differences in fecundity among different body colors of Monopterus albus when body length is between 30cm to 35cm(P>0.05).There is significant differences in fecundity between the yellow Monoptrrus albus and the gray Monopterus albus(P<0.05)when body length is between 35cm to 45cm.7.The nutrient contents of crude protein,crude lipid,crude ash in muscle have no significant different on the different body color Monopterus albus(P>0.05).
