| It were two varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot been chosen for this experiment in Manasi river basin from 2005 to 2006, the study contents included cultivating characteristics, economics fruit characteristics analysis, cold resistance analysis, diseases resistance investigation and grape chemical analysis; otherwise, we had studied several aspects such as winemaking, wine chemical analysis and tasting. We tried to reflect the planting situation of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in Manasi river basin in order to well service for winemaking and vineyard promotion in this area. The results as follows:1. Cabernet Sauvignon was started to break bud on April 25th, to bloom on June 1st, to ripen on July 20th and completely ripen on September 19th. Merlot was started to break bud on April 22th, to bloom on May 28th to ripen on July 14th and completely ripen at September 10th. It was needed 141 days for Merlot from bud breaking to maturation.2. It was showed that Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot were being grown well and with middle yield in this area. The yield of Cabernet Sauvignon was 1445 kg/mu in 2005, and Merlot was 1643 kg/mu.3. The resistance of Cabernet Sauvignon for downy mildew, mites of grape, freeze injury in spring were rather low. Catching disease index of downy mildew was 46% and mites of grape was 35%, leaf freeze injury index was 55.8 for Cabernet Sauvignon. The Merlot were 19.4%, 27% and 55.2.4. There were the same characters in the grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot when maturation which were high sugar content and middle level acidity. The sugar content was 210.3 g/L, the acidity was 7.9 g/L for Cabernet Sauvignon in 2003 and Merlot were 201.1g/L sugar content, 7.3g/L acidity.5. Both of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot were suitable to produce high grand red wine and the wine qualities were rather good. After MLF, the alcohol content and total acidity of Cabernet Sauvignon wine were 11.4 %(vol) and 5.8g/L, Merlot were 11.0%(vol) and 6.1g/L. MLF could improve the wine quality. The tasting mark of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are 15.6 and 15.2 after Sensory evaluation.6. It showed very good character for Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot growing in Manasi river basin. We advise to promote the vineyard in this area and also should be attention to avoid freeze injury in spring. |
