It was studied that the characteristics of salt tolerance compensatory growth of seeds and seedlings of six materials of rhizomatous grasses in Triticeae under the mono-salt stress and complex-salts stress.The range and the point of the salt tolerance compensatory growth were determined through the varieties of the seed germination and vitality index.The characteristics of salt tolerance compensatory growth were compared among species and varieties in the same species under different salt treatment.It was concluded that:The seeds of all the six materials of rhizomatous grasses in Triticeae showed the salt tolerance compensatory growth under the mono-salt stress.The range of the salt tolerance compensatory growth was:Hordeum brevisubulatum=Elytrigia elongata CV.Jose>Agropyron cristatum =Elytrigia intermedia>Elytrigia elongata CV.Tyrell>Elytrigia elongata CV.Alker;The salt tolerance compensatory growth point was:Agropyron cristatum>Elytrigia elongata CV.Alker>Elytrigia intermedia>Elytrigia elongata CV.Jose= Elytrigia elongata CV.Tyrell= Hordeum brevisubulatum.Only the Elytrigia elongata CV.Tyrell and the Elytrigia elongata CV.Jose showed the salt tolerance compensatory growth under the complex-salts stress.Elytrigia elongata CV.Jose's range of the salt tolerance compensatory growth was wider than Elytrigia elongata CV.Tyrell's,while Elytrigia elongata CV. Tyrell's salt tolerance compensatory growth point was higher than Elytrigia elongata CV.Jose's.For Agropyron cristatum,Hordeum brevisubulatum,Elytrigia intermedia, Elytrigia elongata CV.Alker,their seeds' capabilities of tolerating under mono-salt stress was greater than that under complex-salts stress.Elytrigia elongata CV. Jose's range of salt tolerance,compensatory growth under mono-salt stress was wider than that under complex-salts stress.The salt tolerance compensatory growth point of Elytrigia elongata CV.Jose under complex-salts stress was higher than that under mono-salt stress.For Elytrigia elongata CV.Tyrell,the range of salt tolerance compensatory growth under mono-salt stress was wider than that under complex-salts stress.The salt tolerance compensatory growth point under mono-salt was higher than that under complex-salts stress.Only the seedling of Elytrigia elongata CV.Alker showed the salt tolerance compensatory growth under the mono-salt stress.The salt tolerance compensatory growth point is 0.2.The seedlings of the four material showed the salt tolerance compensatory growth under the complex-salts stress,and the range was:Elytrigia elongata CV.Tyrell= Elytrigia elongata CV.Alker>Elytrigia intermedia>Agropyron cristatum.;the salt tolerance compensatory growth point was: Agropyron eristatum>Elytrigia intermedia = Elytrigia elongata CV. Alker=Elytrigia elongata CV.Tyrel.For Agropyron cristatum,Elytrigia intermedia,Elytrigia elongata CV.Alker, Elytrigia elongata CV.Tyrel,their seedlings' capabilities of tolerating under complex-salts stress was greater than that under mono-salt stress.Under mono-salt stress,in the same species,the characteristic of the salt tolerance compensatory growth of the seeds of different varieties were more distinct than their seedlings;under complex-salts stress,the characteristic of the salt tolerance compensatory growth of the seedlings of different varieties were more distinct than their seeds.The studies of physiology basis of the salt tolerance compensatory growth showed that the correlation between the POD activity and the salt tolerance was distinct.There was some effects increase of the PODactivity.The studies showed that the range of the salt tolerance compensatory growth and the salt tolerance compensatory growth point can evaluate plant's salt tolerance.
