Study On The Leaf Flue Curing Characteristics Of Different Varieties Of Flue-cured Tobacco

Flue curing characteristics have the important impact on the quality of tobacco leaf. It were affected by genetic factors, climatic factors, soil type, fertilization and other cultivation and management, leaf position and maturity etc. But the genetic basis (variety) were the most important traits that affect flue curing characteristics. This paper studied the leaf curing characteristics of the eight flue-cured tobacco varieties and some of F1. Aim to provide the basis for developing flue curing technique of the eight flue-cured tobacco varieties and to find some quantitative indicators that can reflect the curing characteristics of flue-cured tobacco. The main results are as follow:1. The leaf yellowing characteristics of different varieties are difference, mainly for the speed and volume of degradation of chlorophyll, the speed of degradation of chlorophyll and the leaf yellowing characteristics show a significant positive correlation .In the curing process, varieties which the chlorophyll were degradated faster and earlier, its leaves turn yellowing quickly, and easy to curing yellow leaves; On the contrary, its leaves turn yellowing slowly and very difficult to curing .2. The leaf coloring characteristics of different varieties are difference, mainly for the PPO activity, the PPO activity and the variegated leaf show a significant positive correlation. In the curing process, especially in the end yellowing period to the early coloring period, if PPO activity is high, the leaf color turn mottling easily, the leaf coloring characteristics are bad.3. The leaf water dehydrating characteristics of different varieties are difference, mainly in the balance of water loss rate. In the curing process, water loss rate better balance of varieties, curing characteristics are better.4. Parental varieties have a major impact on the flue curing characteristics of F1, the yellow leaf and variegated leaf proportion of F1 both show the median of parents varieties,reciprocal cross combination also exist the larger difference,the impact on F1 of mother parent are bigger than male parent. The flue curing characteristics difference of varieties may be caused by additive effect of number gene and controled by the plasmagene.5. Some quantitative indicators that can reflect the flue curing characteristics of flue-cured tobacco were found.6. The flue curing characteristics of the 8 flue-cured tobacco varieties were judged.
