Study On The Productive Performance And Safety Appraisement Of The Houttuynia Cordata Compound In Weaning Piglets

The Houttuynia cordata have the effects of antibacterial and antivirus, improving body immunity and against inflammation and ease pain. Houttuynia cordata is used to cure the respiratory system and the gastrointestinal system disease clinically. Astragulus P.E, the main component of Astragalus Root has obvious effect of boosting up body immunity. It can also accelerate the development of the immune organ. Virginiamycin improves the growth performance for animals. It also has bacteriostatic and bactericidal effects for animals. Virginiamycin is absorbed less in gastro-intestinal and without the problem of organ residual.In the present study, the Houttuynia Cordata extraction, Astragulus P.E, together with Viginiamycin were used to made Houttuynia Cordata compound. The effects of Houttuynia Cordata extration, Astragulus P.E and Houttuynia Cordata compound on the growth performance of weaning piglet were evaluated. The safety appraisement of Houttuynia Cordata compound was conducted. The results of the experiments as follows:1. The Houttuynia Cordata extraction was added to the diets for the 35-day old piglets. The results showed that the Houttuynia Cordata extraction improved the growth performance of the piglets. The diarrhea rate was decreased; daily weight gain, feed intake and feed gain ratio for the piglets fed with diets of Houttuynia Cordata extraction were improved significantly. The highest improvement of growth performance for piglets fed with 200 g of Houttuynia Cordata extraction was observed. The Houttuynia Cordata effect of anti-diarrhea is better than controls. The daily weight is upgrade 20.1% contrast to control groups. The pigs fed with treatment diets is degrade 11%. The radio of diarrhea is reduced 48.7%% comparing with controls.2. The Astragalus P.E was added to the diets for the 29-day old piglets. The results showed piglets fed with diets of Astragalus P.E have better growth performance than piglets fed with control diet, although statistically no significantly. The highest improvement of growth performance for piglets fed with 200 g of Astragalus P.E was observed. The daily weight and pigs fed with treatment diets are better than control groups, which progressed 8.7% and 12%, respectively.3. The results showed that pigs fed with treatment diets (Houttuynia Cordata compound) had higher total weight gain and daily weight gain than control group (p<0.05), which was 18.69kg and 467g respectively. Pigs fed with treatment diets (Houttuynia Cordata compound) had better feed gain ratio than pigs fed with control diet, treatment groups of Houttuynia Cordata compound was 1.58:1. The results indicates that the Houttuynia Cordata had a better growth promote effect in pigs than the others. the Houttuynia Cordata ratio of diarrhea is 17.5%, which is reduced 52.2% comparing with the controls.4. The white rats were fed with Houttuynia Cordata compound 2.5 g/kg within 24 hour. There was no death of the white rats fed with Houttuynia Cordata compound observed during the 7 day experimental period. There was no any toxicity symptom for the white rats fed with Houttuynia Cordata compound. During inferior chronic toxicity test, three group of white rats were given 0.5, 0.25, 0.1mg/10g respectively for 30 days continually. The results showed that there was no significant different (p>0.05) of avoirdupois, hematology index (RBC, WBC, Hb) and blood biochemistry index (GOT, GPT) between the treated white rats and the control group. The anatomical observation showed that there was no obvious toxicity symptom of the main organs for the treated white rats.
