| The chicken feather is an abound source of protein in nature.Because of high degree of cross-linking by cystine disulfide bonds,the feather keratin is insoluble and not degradable by proteolytic enzymes.Therefore,it was not utilized completely for long time.The basic theory of extracting keratin was studied through the morphological construction and the chemical character of the feather keratin,the new method of extracting feather keratin was got.It is the peroxyacetic acid in the high temperature.The peroxyacetic acid was used in extracting the feather keratin,i.e.after being feather in peroxyacetic acid,the feather was in the autoclave.The results showed that peroxyacetic acid 25%,temperature 128℃,time 20m,the volume ratio of solution 1:5, the keratin rate of chicken feather is 11.3%,the solubility of the feather is 90%.In order to use the feather keratin as a protein additive for animal feedstuffs,the feather powder was appreciated in according to soluble protein and digestive rate of the pepsin,the result showed:the content of the soluble protein is 75.67%,the digestive rate of the pepsin increased 82.87%.Therefore,the new method is better than feather without treatment in nutritional values.The techniques of other extracting the feather keratin were studied.The experimental results:the soluble protein content of the feather powder with high pressure is 12.14%,the digestive rate of the pepsin is 52.18%,the soluble protein content of the feather powder with chemical hydrolyze is 59.93%,the digestive rate of the pepsin is 73.45%.The results indicated the peroxyacetic acid in high temperature is greatly improved than other extracting methods in the nutritional values of the feather keratin.Reached indicated the feather keratin powder with peroxyacetic acid in high temperature is safety,health,simply,less pollution in environment.It is better way for improving the nutritional values of the feather keratin.The new method was not reported in all over the world.
