Both the plastic-film mulching and the straw mulching are two important culturaltechniques for increasing yield of flue-cured tobacco. The former could improve theyield and quality of tobacco, by maintaining the soil' s temperature, moisture andfertility. The latter method, could promote the formation of soil micro-aggregateimprove soil physical properties, aeration and infiltration of moisture, and enhance thequality of tobacco. The objective is to improve the efficiency of straw utilization andchoose an efficient measure for the melioration of tobacco field. The effect ofdifferent ways of straw mulching on the following items: the growth and developmentof tobacco, temperature, moisture micro-organism of soil, main economic propertiesand main chemical components of tobacco leaves, were investigated in this paper. Thefield experiments were conducted by using the conventional planting measure, strawoverturning, straw mulching, and plastic film mulching+straw mulching respectively. The results showed that the average yield and income of the tobacco field, treatedwith plastic fill mulching + straw mulching, increased by 16.1kg/mu and 275.5yuan/mu, respectively, compared those of the controlled group, furthermore, itsquality of the tobacco leaves were also improved. In addition, the results alsoindicated that the effects of straw overturning and conventional cultural measureswere better than that of the straw mulching method.
