Elopichthys bambusa(Richardson), because of its great economic value and better productive performance, is one of the important breeding species. Now, only a few research focus on its growth and feeding, and studies on its domestication and feeding strategy have not been conducted. The experiment based on the succeed in domesticating to feeding forage and discussed the most optimum feeding frequency and feeding ratio of Elopichthys bambusa Richardson juveniles. The experiment of domestication adopt domesticating fishplasm fist, and then transited with the mixture of fishplasm and compound feedstuff, finally supplied compound feedstuff completely. There are 4 experimental groups both for feeding frequency(1,2,3,4times/day)and feeding ratio(100%,85%,70%,55% of satiation), each group have 3 replicates. The water temperature lasted from 21.4 to 24.3℃. The feeding trial lasted 30 days. Test the body weight and the body composition of the fish through measuring the samples of each group. The experimental results were shown as follows:1. Elopichthys bambusa (Richardson) juveniles could use compound feedstuff completely by domesticated throughout 23 days. The success of domestication is 100% and the survive rate is 95.3%.2. With the increasing of feeding frequency, the feeding rate(FR) of Elopichthys bambusa (Richardson) juveniles increased gradually. But when the feeding frequency arrived at 2times/day, there were no significantly increasing on feeding rate with the increasing of feeding frequency. The Specific growth rate(SGR) increased fist and then decreased. When feeding frequency increased from one to three times daily, body weight gain and SGR were significantly increased(P<0.05), but there were significantly decreased on four times daily(P<0.05). There were significant changes in conversion efficiency(CE) too, The best CE was achieved by feeding one time daily, followed by feeding twice daily and then by feeding three times daily, and there were no significant differences(P>0.05) between three times and twice daily. Along with the graded increasing of feeding frequency from once daily to four times, fish weight differences lowered down which indicated that higher feeding frequency led to more even fish size. Daily feeding pattern also changed accordingly under different feeding frequency. Fish fed at higher frequencies consumed larger quantities of food than those fed less often, but individual meal size was smaller. There were significant influence in body composition of the fish(P<0.05). With the increasing of feeding frequency, the protein content increased fist and decreased then; the lipid content increased gradually; the moisture and ash content decreased gradually. The conclusion of this study was: the growth performance was affected by both feeding rate and conversion efficiency, and feeding three times daily was optimum.3. The SGR, CE and body composition ofElopichthys bambusa (Richardson) juveniles were significantly(P<0.05) affected by feeding ratio. The SGR increased but the CE decreased gradually with the increasing of feeding ratio. The SGR increased significantly(P<0.05)with feeding ratio from 55% to 85%. The SGR of 100% group higher than 85%grou, but there was no significantly different( P>0.05) between them. The CE was markedly higher(P<0.05)in 55% group than other groups. There were no significantly different among 70% and 85% group( P>0.05). But the CE was markedly higher(P<0.05)in 70% than in 100% group. Based on the maximum SGR and the maximum CE, the optimum feeding ratio for Elopichthys bambusa (Richardson) juveniles could be 85% of satiation.
