| 10 alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.cv) varieties were studied which were applying in large area in production. The index of yield, quality and adaptability were measured. This research were conducted in order to supply high yield, good quality, applicable alfalfa varieties and to avoid blindness in choice for agriculture production, husbandry developing and prataculture research in Guanzhong and similar area. At the same time this research give a first-hand material of alfalfa cultivar evaluation for breeding researchers.The results as follows:There were significant difference on yield characters on the first and the second year."Spring"alfalfa have the highest yield in the first year. Xinjiangdaye have the lowest yield ."Idaho","Sweden","Hunter River"and"Spring"alfalfa have higher yield in every cutting."Idaho","Sweden","Hunter River"and"Spring"alfalfa acquired higher yield in the two years. There were significant difference on height and branches on every cutting. The height was degression according to the cutting."Idaho","Sweden","Spring"and"Longdong"alfalfa have more Branches."Idaho"and"Spring"alfalfa acquired higher yield in the two years yield, which are worth to be popularized.There was significant difference on seed yield."Guanzhong"alfalfa and"Sweden"alfalfa acquired more seed yield. The seed yields of other varieties were lower than 120 kg/hm2. There were no significant differences on fresh /dry ratio. The crude protein of 10 alfalfa vary from 16% to 18%. there were no significant difference on crude protein content, P and K on 10 alfalfa varieties. There were significant differences on plant death number. The seedling dead more in the first year and less with the growing time, in which, the natural selection and adaptation were the reason.The disease resistance and insect resistance were different."Idaho","Spring","California""Guanzhong"and"Hunter River"alfalfa were higher resistance to disease and insect."Idaho"and"Spring"alfalfa were worth to be popularized in Guanzhong area with the highest yield, higher resistance to insect and disease and strong adaptability for currently planting. |
