Conservation breeding and succedent reintroduction is one of the most important ways to save the endangered species. We collaborate with the managed department of Da Yao Shan Nature Reserve to conduct the research about conservation breeding and trial release of Chinese crocodilian lizard. Our aims are to compare the time budget of Chinese crocodilian lizard between captivity and free living to see how difference between them, and to master the skill of conservation breeding of Chinese crocodilian lizard, and to get some necessary information through trial release of Chinese crocodilian lizard for its reintroduction in future. The time budget of six types of behavior of Chinese crocodilian lizard under semi-natural condition in Da Yao Shan Nature Reserve was studied through the method of instant scanning. The results indicated that resting, in nest, moving, food foraging, sun bathing, others activities accounted for69.09 %, 28.82 %, 0.80%, 0.28 %, 0.44 %, 0.58 % respectively in the daily time budget. The comparison of time budget between female and male was made, and it shown that there were no significant differences between sexes except moving. The ratio of captive Chinese crocodilian lizard's behavioral elasticity was reducing when comparing to the counterpart in field As for conservation breeding of Chinese crocodilian lizard, ours investigation didn't find any social interaction between individuals of captive Chinese crocodilian lizard except the first day when introduced them to the same enclosure where they were kept. There are more research need to do to master and improve conservation breeding skill of Chinese crocodilian lizard in captivity. The Chinese crocodilian lizard express native behaviors such as hiding, chasing food, arboreal when release them in to the field. It seems that the reintroduction of Chinese crocodilian lizard in future is feasible. But our research also found some problems need to be conquered before reintroduction of Chinese crocodilian lizard.
