In this paper, the content of starch, protein, reducing sugar and vitamin C in potato cultivars which were supplied by the Northwest group of nation's regional test on potato cultivars in 2005 at different ecological environments in the Northwest of China were studied. I paid more attention to the difference of four quality traits and the correlation with synthesized latitude. These main results can be gained from this study:1. Starch content and stabilityThe content of starch was the highest in Xining of Qinghai province(20.19%) and the lowest in Dingxi of Gansu province(17.00%). The content of starch was the highest in L9810-18 and the lowest in 90-2-10, the contents were 20.69% and 15.86%. The regression coefficient of Zhongshu36 and L9810-18 was less than 1. They were stable cultivars.2. Protein content and stabilityThe content of protein was the highest in Dingxi of Gansu province(2.68%) and the lowest in Hainan of Qinghai province(1.86%). The content of protein was the highest in Longshu3 and the lowest in Qing97-1-38, the contents were 2.69% and 2.05%. The regression coefficient of E95P3-3 and Qing97-1-38 was less than 1. They were stable cultivars.3. Reducing sugar content and stabilityThe content of reducing sugar was the highest in Hainan of Qinghai province (0.913%) and the lowest in Guyuan of Ningxia province(0.375%).The content of reducing sugar was the highest in Longshu3 and the lowest in E95P3-3, the contents were 0.832% and 0.458%. The regression coefficient of E95P3-3 and Qing97-1-38 was less than 1. They were stable cultivars.4. Vitamin C content and stabilityThe content of vitamin C was the highest in Xining of Qinghai province (16.75mg/100g) and the lowest in Hainan of Qinghai province(12.93mg/100g). The content of vitamin C was the highest in Longshu3 and the lowest in 90-2-10, the contents were 18.68 mg/100g and 12.23 mg/100g. The regression coefficient of Zhongshu 36 was less than 1. It was stable cultivar.5. Correlation of potato's quality traits with synthesized latitudeThe starch content was significance positive correlation with synthesized latitude, and increasing with the height of synthesized latitude. The protein content was significance negative correlation with synthesized latitude, and descending with the height of synthesized latitude generally. The reducing sugar content was significance positive correlation with synthesized latitude, and increasing with the height of synthesized latitude. The Vitamin C content was negative correlation with synthesized latitude, and there was little variation with the height of synthesized latitude.
