Annual apple seedlings and 3-year-old apple seedlings of Malus hupehensis (Pamp) Rehd. var pinyiensis Jiang, 10-year-old trees of Malus domestica Borkh var.Red Fuji/ Malus hupehensis(Pamp)Rehd. and Malus domestica Borkh var.Red Delicious/ Malus hupehensis(Pamp)Rehd.were used as materials to study the changes of bioluminescence ,respiration and ATP content.The main results were as follows:1. The sequences of bioluminescence intensity of apple leaf were mature leaf > old leaf > young leaf.And the sequence of ATP content was the same as bioluminescence intensity.2. The bioluminescence intensity of apple and M.hupehensis Rehd firstly increased and then decreased with the increase of stress solution concentration under 20% PEG6000.And the higher concentration the more extent bioluminescence intensity declined.ATP content decreased with the improvement of solution concentration.Meanwhile cyanide respiration of seedling leaf was induced under PEG stress.With the rise of PEG,cyanide respiration rate added.With the serious of water stress, membrane permeability of root mitochondria rose,cyt c content dropped, more electric leaked,which leaded to H2O2 content increased.Thus the UWL intensithy of root mitochondria reduced.3. The bioluminescence intensity of apple and M.hupehensis Rehd firstly increased and then decreased with the increase of stress solution concentration under NaCl stress. And the higher NaCl concentration the more extent bioluminescence intensity declined.The change trend of ATP content of seedling leaf was the same.Respiration pathway was changed from cytochrome pathway to cyanider pathway. 4. Phosphorescence intensity of seedling leaf all increased with the stress time added under high temperature.While UWL and fluorescence intensity dropped,total respiration rate decreased,cyanide respiration rate rose,ATP content declined.5. UWL and fluorescence intensity of seedling leaf firstly increased then decreased under Cd stress.Phosphorescence intensity gradually rose.ATP content decreased because of Cd concentration added. Total respiration was inhibited and cyanide respiration was induced.Bioluminescence intensity of Red Delicious was higher than intensity of red Fuji under Cd stress,which resistance was stronger than Red Fuji.6. The phosphorescence intensity of leaf dropped greatly with the expansion of treated time.The content of H2O2 in root mitochondria increased gradually,the UWL intensity of root mitochondria rose meanwhile.
