Epidemiological Investigation Of PRRS And Prevention In Feng Yang Region, Anhui Porvince

Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS), caused by the Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV). which is characterized by severe reproductive failure in sows, and respiratory distress in piglets and growing pigs, is really a new viral diseases of swine. Since it was first reported in 1987 in the united and in Europe in 1990,PRRS has been one of the most economically important diseases of the global pig industry.In recent years, This disease has been increasing with large economicas losses in pig industry in Feng yang region, especially the mix-infection with other pathogen. In this paper, Detailed epidemiological investigation of PRRS was carried out in Feng yang region through clinical diagnosis,isolation and identification of pathogen. The results showed that there was general PRRSV infection in pig farms in this county.The macrophage of pig can be infected by PRRSV, So PRRSV infection can inhibit the immune response to other vaccine such as Swine fever Vaccine, generally, there is widespread co-infection in PRRSV positive pig farm. In 2005, there were outbreak of "high fever disease" in pig farms in Feng yang region, caused large economic losses, the result of pathogen identification showed PRRSV was one of the pathogen. In 85 PRRSV positive samples, there were PRRSV co-infection with PPV in 30.5% samples, and with PRV in 20.0% samples.According to the results of epidemiological investigation to PRRS in Feng yang region, apprehensive approach in control of PRRS was developed by Feng yang veterinary bureau, such as technique trainning,epidemic situation inspection,construction of security system. In intensive pig farms, PRRS was under controlled by tactfull importing breading pigs, all in and all out production model,reducing stress,keeping suitable breeding density and control of bacteria secondary infection.
