Leymus chinensis a member of Gramineae Leymus is a perennial gramineous grass with long rhizomes , which is a dominating grass species in songnen grassland. It has widely ecological scope, which can grow with Aeluropus sinensis, Puccinellia tenuiflora and Suaeda glauca. It has lots of specialities in Ecophysiology such as high productivity, tolerance of dry, leanness-resistant and saline-alkali tolerance, abundance of nutrition, great worth of economy and feels well. But recently many steppes became saline-alkali and ecological environment has been destroyed because of the incorrect using of Leymus chinensis steppe. So study on Gramineae Leymus inverse-resistant ecophysiology and molecular mechanism had significant meaning in both production of Leymus chinensis and management and reformation of saline-alkali Steppe. The study discussed the growth adaptation of Leymus chinensis from the aspects of the protein accumulation and nitrogen metabolism in saline-alkali grassland and tried to analyze the relation among protein accumulation, Leymus chinensis population formation and physic–chemical characters of soil. The results indicated that the soluble protein of Leymus chinensis at different growth periods along the saline-alkaline was different not only in protein content but also in protein units constitute. Along with the increase of the saline-alkaline, the variation tendencies of the soluble protein content at every growth stages was different. Such as at flowering stage and booting stage showed the trend of increase~decrease~increase~decrease; At milking stage ,wax ripening stage, vegetativing stage after the full ripe and perishing stage showed the trend of decrease~increase~decrease; In addition,When imitating saline-alkali tolerance, the variation tendencies of the soluble protein content was similar to flowering stage and booting stage. At protein units constitute, every growth stages of Leymus chinensis all found exceptional protein bands. Such as 134.6KD at flowering stage and booting stage; 145.3KD at milking stage ,wax ripening stage, vegetativing stage after the full ripe and perishing stage and 134.6KD at imitating. These protein units might because of saline-alkali tolerance.Along the saline-alkaline, nitrogen metabolism of Leymus chinensis changed. The content of NH4+-N appeared to descend obviously. The content of NO3-N appeared to rise then descend. The whole nitrogen content had no obvious variety.
