Medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA),an artificial progestogen , was used as a feed additive to promote the growth of animals and increase the feed conversion efficiency. It was banned for the increased risk of breast cancer in China and Europe. A variety of methods such as chromatography and ELISA have been utilized to determine MPA. These methods, however, are instrument dependent, time consuming and inconvenient to perform on the spot. The objective of this study was to develop a rapid and simple colloidal gold immunochromatographic assay (GICA) for the detection of MPA.In the study , MPA and MP were modified as MPA-3-carboxymethyloxy derivative and MP-17-hemisuccinate derivative respectively. Studys found that the synthesis of MPA derivative need reflux reaction in high temperature and the production was low.
