The Study On Artificial Cultivation And Insect Occurrence And Control Of Trichosanthes Kirilowii Maxim In Xinyang City

Trichosanthes kirilowii Maxim and T. rosthornii Harms have been inscrolled by Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2005) as herbal medicine With their Fruits to be used as "Snake gourd Fruit" per carps as "Snake gourd Peel " seeds as "Snake gourd Seed" and roots as "Snake gourd Root". They all have distinct curative effects on heart, lung and intestines. It has been reported recently that snake gourd root can kill macrophage infected by HIV selectively. And snake gourd seed has been accepted by the markets of beauty, health care and dried fruit. As a kind of perennial plant they play an important role in beautifying the scene during the development of city construction.Snake gourd with 34 species and 6 variety species can be found all over the China. 7 cultivars for example Duanbo-1, Wanlou-1, Rengualou, Tanggualou, Niuxingualou, Xiaoguangdan, Digualou are popular in major production areas where there are enough sunlight, ventilation, and deep fertile sandy soil which considered to be the main growth factors of snake gourd cultivation.Two wild specie, have been transplant from Lei mountain Pingqiao borough and Wiming mountain Shihe borough to the experimental field of Xinyang Agricultural Collage. Seed and root have been used as tow reproduction materials which grow in different density and field at different time. Damage symptom, life history and; living habits of Epilachna insignis Gorham and Apomecyna saltator (Fabricius) which are the two main insect pests of Xinyang have been observed. And Macleaya cordata has been used as an biological pesticides to test the against activity of two insect pests.The results show that E. insignis Gorham occur two generations one year, and lives through winter at sew of soil and soil surface by imago. Next year from the middle of April to the later of October, imago and larva seriously harm the leaves, stems and buds. The imago's life-span is long, and reproductive. A. saltator (Fabricius) occurrence one generation one year, and lives through winter in dead stem of by larva from the later of October. Next year from the middle of April to the later October the larva feeds in stems and damage it. The extracts of Macleaya cordata has better contact toxicity.Root grows from seeds and roots all swell, but different in length and width .The one grows from seed is usually wider but shorter and the one grows from root is more weighty.
