The study of fruit bagging of cucumber and tomato was conducted from November 2004 to January 2006. There were four different types of bags: the white plastic film bag (WFB), the freshness-keeping plastic film bag (FFB), the white paper bag (WPB) and the yellow paper bag (YPB). In the two experiments of cucumber, one was to bag only one fruit on a plant (one-fruit-bagging) and the second was to bag all the fruits on a plant (successive–fruit-bagging). There were five different types of bags in tomato experiments: WFB, FFB, WPB, the purple plastic film bag (PFB), the red plastic film bag (RFB). Three experiments were conducted in winter-spring season, spring-summer season and autumn-winter season in turn. In the study, the micro-environments of different bags were measured, including the spectrum curve, illumination intensity, relative humidity (RH) and temperature. The physiological indexes were examined including fruit morphology, yield and nutritive quality, and the residual of the testing pesticide sprayed on the plant. With the comprehensive analysis, the proper type of bag was chose and the relevant cultivation technique was suggested. The results of the study are as follows:(1) With the different types of bags, the micro-environments of fruit-growth are changed: the illumination intensity is weakened, the ultraviolet (<400 nm) is reduced, RH is increased remarkably and the temperature is increased slightly. The transmittance of YPB is just 30%, and the visible light (400~700 nm) is reduced. The transmittance of WFB, PFB and FFB are over 85%, and the ultraviolet are reduced least. The transmittance of RFB is about 80%, but the light (400~600 nm) is declined sharply. The transmittance of all types of plastic film bags is 1~2 times higher than WPB and YPB, and RH is higher remarkably than them.(2) With the different types of bags, the fruit growth rate of cucumber is quickened, and the single fruit weight is increased. The color of fruit skin is lightened in all four treatments, and the lightened levels are: FFB and WFB are remarkable extremely, YPB is remarkable, and WPB is not remarkable. With the successive-fruit-bagging, the rate of crooked fruits of FFB and WFB are increased remarkably and YPB and WPB are increased unremarkably.
