Carp intestinal epithelial cells in primary culture were selected to evaluate the antitrophic actions of soybean β-conglycinin extract.These carp intestinal epithelial cells growth characterization and function was investigated. 6 treatments with 4 replications were designed. These carp intestinal epithelial cells were pre-incubated for 72h at 26℃, then transferred to the same medium containing different concentrations of soybean β-conglycinin extract (0, 0.25, 0.6, 0.9,1.2, 2.5mg/ml).The incubation was continued for a further 38h at 26℃,these cells shape and growth characterization were observed in 12h,24h and 36h.These results showed: the majority of these carp intestinal epithelial cells attached and reached confluence within 12h, cells assumed circular and few cells aerosoled, the amount of different treatment cells did not have significant diffrence. Up to 24h, the amout of attached cells increased and cells assumed circular, comparing with the control group, the outline of cells treated with soybean β-conglycinin extract was not clear, some cells falling off, the ratio of cells falling of increased along with soybean β-conglycinin extract level rising . Up to 36h, the amount of attached cells remained to increase and cells assumed circular, the outline of cells treated with soybean β-conglycinin extract was not clear and cells assume irregular shape, many cells falling off and the ratio of cells falling of increased along with soybean β-conglycinin extract level rising .The cell MMT absorption at 540 nm wavelength (MTT OD540) , alkaline phosphatase of medium ,alanine aminotransferase activities of medium, aspartate aminotransferase activities of medium, Na~+, K~+-ATPase activities of cell were very significantly affected by soybean β-conglycinin extract concentration (P<0.01). Lactic acid dehydrogenase activities of medium, aspartate aminotransferase activities of cell, protein concentration, protein retention were significantly affected by soybean β-conglycinin extract concentration (P<0.05).
