Two crosses (Yannong19×Wanmai48 and Yannong19×Annong0016) were made between three wheat (T. aestivum L.) varieties. The composition of High Molecular Weight Glutenin Subunits (HMW-GS) in F2 lines was screened by using sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). The SDS sedimentation value of F2 and F3 lines was measured. The separation of HMW-GS in F2 lines, the distributing of SDS sedimentation value of F2 and F3 lines and the effect of HMW-GS on SDS sedimentation value were determined. The results were presented below:1 In the F2 lines, HMW-GS are separated in accordance with rules, which have related to the cross. In the crossⅠ(Yannong19×Wanmai48): The ratio of Glu-A1a to Glu-A1c was about 1:1; the ratio of Glu-B1h to Glu-B1i was about 9:7. In the crossⅡ(Yannong19×Annong0016): The ratio of Glu-A1a to Glu-A1c was about 3:1; the ratio in Glu-B1 was about 1:1. The incomplete expression has arisen in Glu-B1i and Glu-B1c, which will be very useful for wheat quality breeding. Therefore, two genes coding subunits 17 and 18, respectively, or two genes coding subunits 7 and 9, are incomplete linkage.2 The SDS sedimentation value of F2 lines significantly related to the value of F3 lines, so the SDS sedimentation value could be as a reliable quality criterion in the early generation selection of wheat quality breeding programs.3 The HMW-glutenin subunits of F2 lines have significant influences on SDS sedimentation value of the F2 and F3 lines and their influencing trends were almost same. The interaction between allelic of Glu-A1 and allelic of Glu-B1 did not reach significance. A sequence of effects of the HMW-glutenin subunits on the SDS sedimentation value of wheat was: Glu-A11>Null, Glu-B17+9=Glu-B117+18> Glu-B114+15.4 Genotypes with 1, 7+9 or 1, 17+18 performed higher SDS sedimentation value than that of genotypes with N, 14+15.
