On the basis of investigating the resource and utilization of Iris plants in Nanjing, Hangzhou and Wuxi, the paper selected five plants: Iris pseudacorus, Iris sanguinea, Iris kaempferi, Iris japonica, Iris tectorum to find their tissue culture technology and shade tolerance with lots experiments. The results were summarized as follows:In the culture of Iris sanguined, The shooting tip in the spring and the medium supplemented with 6-BA(1mg/L)+NAA(0.2mg/L) testified the best grouping. In the period of taking root, it showed that NAA was better to the take root of young plants than IBA, and the best concentration was 0.5mg/L to the rooting young plants.In shooting tip culture of Iris tectorum, MS+6-BA1.5mg/L+NAA0.1mg/L was proved best. The time of explants made significant effect on its differentiation and production effect, and spring was proved best. In the inducement of adventitious bud, MS with appropriate KT(2mg/L) was better to adventitious buds' production. The best concentration was 6-BA (0.1mg/ L) and NAA (0.5mg/L) to the rooting young plants.In the culture of Iris kaempferi, the selection of explants had a great effect on the experiment. While in the inducement of shooting tip, the medium produced little callus supplied with 6-BA 2.5mg/L+NAA 0.1~0.2mg/L. However, it produced browning problems, although adding active carbon and transferring frequently can reduce the browning effect, it didn't differed much.According to the study on the fresh weight, dry weight and water content, the leaf structure, the chlorophyll content and value of Ca/Cb, the photosynthesis characteristic of leaves, The shade tolerant ability of five plants (from strong to week) was in the order: Iris japonica, Iris pseudacorus, Iris tectorum, Iris kaempferi, Iris sanguinea。...
