This paper, according to principle of the landscape ecology and its method, through the research of the relationship between the forest landscape, landscape environment and landscape function, Probed into the connotation and the theoretical system of forest landscape suitability. Taking 746 forest patches of wuhan jiufeng urban forest reserve as research object, we assessed the forest landscape suitability in the aspects of environment, ecological function and aesthetic function of forest landscape. Using mathematics compounding methods and GIS technique, we gave an integrated evaluation of the suitability applying to map congruence method and align-to-weighted, through confirming index system criterion of grade, ration method, the conclusion as follows:(1) Evaluation on the suitability of forest landscape is analyzing entironment, structure and function of existent forest landscape. Which includes the evaluation on entironment quality, stability, standing, fastness, health of forest landscape and other nature attributes of existent landscape , ecological function and aesthetic function of forest landscape. This research established model of assessment by selecting 17 indexes.(2) The paper made use of analytic hierachy process(AHP) to confirm index weight, and the result indicated that, in the assessment system of forest landscape suitability, the ecological function suitability is the most important, its weight value is 0.460;the environment suitability is the second, its weight value is 0.387; the aesthetic function suitability is less important than the former, the weighting is 0.387. The degree of important of indexes correspondingly is that: green quantity> area of patches> Spatial relationship of patches > patch proximity index > species richness=community structure > diversity > Canopy densities > vegetation type > shape index of patch > gradient > rare and endangered degree > soil thickness > naturalness > litter thickness.(3) The paper classed the landscape suitability to 5 graduation: good suitable, middling suitable, generic suitable, less suitable, bad suitable, the result showed that, area of forest respectively is 195.1 hm~2,366.4hm~2,374.3hm~2,246.9 hm~2,134.0 hm~2, which accounts for respectively 14.8%, 27.8%,28.4%,18.8%,11.0% of the area of forest. The number of patches with good suitability is 122, which mainly distributed in the dingguan mountain, daimao mountain,mayi mountain, chang mountain, and so on, giving priority to Mixed Forest with Needle and Broad Leaves, evergreen needle-leaved forest the deciduous broad-leaved forest, these patches are that, areas of patches are rather great, seasonal sceneries are abundant, community hiberarchy is complex, spatial relationship with the common types patches is strong, Canopy densities of forest coronal is high, species are...
