Abstract/Summary:
Wheat is an important crop in the world. Powdery mildew is a global disease for the cereal crop. Developing resistant cultivars has been proved to be the most economical, effective and environmentally sound pathway to control this disease. Disese resistance cultivar breeding is an important strategy for modern agriculture. The keies for wheat disease resistance breeding are to search for various disease resistance materials and new resistance genes, as well as studying on new strategies to control disease resistace. Several aspects were studied in this paper.1, The powdery mildew resistance gene deduction test result indicated that the powdery mildew resistance gene in "Lankao 90(6)" lines was different from these known powdery mildew resistance genes. It may be a novel powdery mildew resistance gene in wheat.2, Inheritance analysis of the powdery mildew resistance in "Lankao 90(6)", "Guinong 775", "Jieyan 2000-1" and "Jieyan 98-7" using single spore isolates of B. graminis were done. The results showed that "Lankao 90(6)" harbored a race specific recessive powdery mildew resistance gene. "Guinong 775" and "Jieyan 2000-1" harbored a race specific dominant powdery mildew resistance gene, which was preliminary demonstrated as Pm21. "Jieyan 98-7" probably harbored dominant powdery mildew resistance gene.3, SSR and AFLP molecular marker screening were conducted for the powdery mildew resistance gene in "Lankao 90(6)". Some polymorphic bands were amplified when using the Gwm344 of SSR primers, the M34P08 and M34P13 of AFLP primers, but none molecular marker linked with the powdery mildew resistance gene in "Lankao 90(6)" has been determined yet.
