Grafting is an important method to promote the growth and development of the greenhouse cultivation of cucumber, and to increase its production and resistance. Nowadays, it tends to diversify in grafted rootstock varieties. But it lacks systematic comparison and evaluation on the effect of different rootstocks on quality of different grafted cucumbers fruit.This research took 14 kinds of pumpkin breeds as rootstock and'Xintaimici'as scion to study the effect of different rootstocks on grafted cucumber fruit growth, yield, nutrition and commodity of quality, it discover the relationship between the different rootstocks and the bloom of cucumber fruit. It also discussed the physiological mechanism of bloom in the cucumber fruit. The main results are as followed:1. Grafting significantly advanced the node number of cucumber first female flower.'shielupa'have the highest node number of first female flower. Grafting significantly increase the yield of cucumber, the'improved xintuzuo-1'increased the most in production, which was 72% higher than non-grafted plants. Grafting increased the content of tannic in fruits obviously; the'tokiwapa-Z'had the highest tannic content. There was no significant effect on soluble solid content among different kinds of grafted cucumbers.2. The fruits of grafted on'tetukabuto','Figleaf gouard'grew fastest and it shortened the period from the blossom to harvest. The fruits which grafted on'tokiwapa-Z','tielizhen','huitailang'ones had higher fruit length/diameter and smaller Fruit stalk/Fruit length .The ones grafted on the'tane','kilamiki','huitailang'had a higher sugar to acid ratio and smaller tannic content in fruits.3.'Shielupa','tokiwapa-Z','kilameki','eibulu','huitailang','huofenghuang'which had bright skin color as bloomless rootstock could reduce the bloom on the fruit significantly,'shialupa','tane','tatukabuto','improved xintuzuo-1','figleaf gouard'which had vague skin color were bloom rootstocks.'gulipu','tielizhen','qingyan-1'were medium bloom rootstock.4. There is a significant difference in growing of cucumber grafted on different bloom type rootstock. In early flowering, the bloom grafted ones had higher plant height, and it had no significant difference in plant height between bloomless and medium bloom cucumber. However, in the fruiting period, the plant height, number of cucumber grafted on bloomless rootstock was obviously lower than bloom and medium rootstock.5. In seedling period, the grafted and own-rooted cucumbers had significantly high silicon concentration in leaves than other organs.
