Drip irrigation under mulch can provide water and nutrient timing, quantitative proportional referring to crop growth demands. In this study, three levels of N application and two different irrigation technologies were adopted in the field. The agronomic characters and physiological characteristics and chemical constituents of cured tobacco leaf were researched. The results were as follows:(1)During vigorous growth and reproductive period, the plant height and remained leaves of tobacco irrigated by drip under mulch was DTHN>CK>DTMN >DTLN, and the tobacco irrigated by drip irrigation under mulch can increase the plant height and remained leaves significantly.(2) The plant height, stem thickness and remained leaves of tobacco irrigated by drip irrigation under mulch was larger than the control treatment when the N application rate was uniformly, lower when the N application rate decrease.(3) The tobacco irrigated by drip irrigation under mulch could increase the contents of chlorophyll and the NR activity, the SOD activity, the GS activity; the contents of MDA was decrease. The tobacco exhibited a good growth potential and stress resistance, Especially in the continuous raining and low temperature of environment, the tobacco grow with no significant inhibition and the carbon and nitrogen metabolism was harmony.(4)The tobacco irrigated by drip irrigation under mulch could increase the contents of soluble sugars significantly, total nitrogen, nicotine and protein. The ratio of reducing sugar to nicotine, the ratio of nitrogen to nicotine and Mu-Ke value of leaf was harmony, and the inherent quality was higher.(5)The middle N level could meet NC82 growth requirements by drip irrigation under mulch, and tobacco grew well with high economic value.
