Development of hybrid rice is a great contribution to agricultural production in China. Heterosis utilization of indica-japonica and indica-javanica crosses is a dream of breeder for many years and it is hoped to become a reality. It has not a breakthrough and effective ways to solve problems of low seed setting rate and without plump grain. Now it could improve the restorer with wide compatibility varieties and increase the seed setting rate to 80 percent, so the strong superiority crosses of indica-japonica crosses and indica-javanica would used in production. We selected 27 combination used R238 which from indica-japonica cross as male and 27 different sterile lines as female and analyses performance of different combinations and its parents. Main results were as follows:1 The lots of grain number and filled grain number per panicle, larger 1000-grain weight induced high yield of hybrid rice based the facts those were 66.0-85.0% of positive heterobeltiosis in 27 combinations of the yield,1000 -grain weight, grain number and filled grain number per panicle, ear length and height and it had little combination those had positive heterobeltiosis of effectively rate and seed setting rate. The 27 combinations had a large advantage of the grain number and filled grain number per panicle, seed setting rate and ear length and they had little advantage of the effectively rate and 1000-grain weight according to the controls.2 The growth period of different combinations was close to its sterile lines. The different F1 had different seed setting rates. The combinations of CMS as female and R238 as male had different performance of restoring degree to combinations of two-line male sterile as female and R238 as male.3 The grain numbers of different combinations had a tendency with its females and they had strong heterosis if its female had more yield.4 The heights of different combinations had a a tendency with its males and they were all shorter than their males. The combinations had strong lodging resistance.5 The R238 had a strong general combining ability with 27 sterile lines except the combination' seed setting rates was 72.2% with Yue 4A.
