Water is an indispensable natural resources for peoples. With the growing size of cities, the continuous development of social economy, the increasing water demand, resulting in lowering of groundwater levels. Currently, The Guantao County in Hebei Province faced with severe problems of water resources and water environment. In order to adapt to the demands of economic and social development, we must study and establish the water resources protection strategy. The development and utilization of poor quality water has far-reaching significance. Guantao County of Hebei Province, according to the reality of lack of freshwater resources, developed and utilized the slight saline water in shallow aquifer as one of the most important measures for irrigation. Scientific, systematic study of using slight saline water is the purpose to reduce the exploitation of deep ground water.This article referenced domestic and foreign arcticles about the development and utilization of slight saline water, from the background of the research,detailed express the current status of development and utilization of slight saline water, established the research techniques and methods in the article. Combined to the Guantao actual situation, comprehensively analysised the region's natural environment, weather, hydrology, river systems, hydraulic engineering and socio economic situation, emphasized the current development and utilization of groundwater, summarized the problems of water resources and water environment in Guantao County. At the same time, evaluated the Guantao groundwater resources (including the quantity and quality evaluation), especially analysed and studied the horizontal and vertical distribution in different salinity goundwater. This article emphasizely studied the influence for the soil salinity migration process and the crop yield in the condition of different salinity, different irrigation quota and different irrigation style. Through experimental results, established the relationship between irrigation and yield, took the largest irrigation quatity and production. On the basis of the soil moisture data from the experiment , used SWAP (soil - water - air - plant) model as a tool, calibrated the model parameters. Then used the model to simulate the process of the soil salinty in crop growth period and the influence to the field. To verify the model parameters is reasonable. through the comparison of the measured data and simulated data. The final chapter described the measures of development and utilization of slight salt water and the benefit analysis, the measures included the study of the soil salinization prevention, ground water control programs, project water saving system construction, management system construction. In-benefit analysis, first established the principle of the benefit analysis, then analyzed the self cost and the running cost.Conclusion, using the slight salt water for irrigation opened up a new way for water scarce zone. The research had pratical value. Scientific and rational use of slight salt water will surely promote the development of agricultural irrigation.
