To study the effect of sodium butyrate of different doses on growth performance and digestive tract development of cherry valley ducks, the experiment were designed. It discuss the addition of appropriate levels of sodium butyrate. It provide the experimental basis and scientific guidance for the rational use of sodium butyrate.240 cherry valley ducks of same age, same species, species of similar weight were randomly distributed into four groups with six replications, ten of each . Cherry valley ducks in control group were fed basal diet, while the diet of experimental groupsⅠ,ⅡandⅢ,they were mixed 0.035%,0.07% and 0.105% sodium butyrate, respectively. The experiment lasted for 42days. The results showed that:(1) Compared with the control group, average daily feed intake (ADFI) was higher the experimental groups in the first week, since the ADFI of experimental groups was gradually lower than the control group, and the ADFI of experimental groupⅡwas minmum; Average daily gain(ADG), absolute growth (AGR) were gradually increased to 35 day and then decreased. Feed/gain(F/G) showed no change in the law as the age, but experimental groups were better the control group, the experimental groupⅡw as best.(2) Nutrient digestibility results showed that: absorption capacity of the crude protein, crude fat, calcium and phosphorus were affected significantly by adding the different proportion of sodium butyrate, in the late of the test, the digestion of protein was decreased, the digestion of fat was increased, the absorption of calcium and phosphorus showed different, as compared with control, respectively; at the experimental period, the absorption of the protein, crude fat, calcium and phosphorus of experimental groupⅡwere higher than the control, and it was best.(3)The results of digestive organs showed that: The weight of crop, stomach gizzard and length of duodenum, jejunum, ileum, caecum of the proportion of sodium butyrate on cherry valley ducks were increased with the age, which the weight of crop and length of caecum had no conspicuous change; Ph of crop was weak acid and gradually decreased with age and tended to be stable; pH of stomach gizzard was acid, slowly increased with increasing age and eventually remained relatively stable. Adding different proportions of sodium butyrate reduced the pH but the difference was not significant; pH value of duodenum, jejunum, ileum were changed slightly with age, remained at between 6.0-7.0 and tended to be stable; It had no effect on intestinal pH, adding different proportions of sodium butyrate.(4) The pepsin activity of stomach gradually increased with age and reached to peak on 14d; the amylase and lipase activity reached to peak at 14 and 7days, respectively. Amylase and lipase activity of jejunum and ileum is superior to duodenum; trypsin activity had different because of the different parts of intestine, different levels of sodium butyrate and different times of reaching the minimum value and its peak. The trypsin of duodenum was not significant change with age of different groups; The trypsin of jejunum reached to peak on 28d; The trypsin of ileum of control group gradually declined to the lowest value on14d, then gradually increased and reached to peak on 28d and gradual leveling off; The trend of experimental groupⅠ,Ⅱwere basically the same. They were dropped to the lowest on 7d, then gradually reached to the peak on 14d and gradually stabilized; The general trend of cellulase activity in the caecum were increased with the age. After 7d, cellulase activity of adding different proportions of sodium butyrate were significantly higher control group.(5) The results of the organizational structure of the intestinal showed that: Adding different proportions of sodium butyrate, The cherry valley ducks′s intestinal structure were integrated, intestinal wall thickness were reduced, villous height were increased, crypt depth were shallow, V / C were increased. In conclusion, under the experimental conditions, the experimental groupⅡ′s (0.07% adding sodium butyrate) effects of the growth performance and digestive tract development were best. It produced impact by the digestive tract organization structure of the intestinal wall and nutrient digestibility.
