It has important theoretical significance for us to study forest species fine roots on understanding the root's structure and function,life expectancy and the turnover.In this study,we collected fine root of the main timber species Pinus koraiensis and Larix kaempferi in eastern Liaoning mountainous in September 2008.Studied different root orders'morphological parameters (diameter,length,specific root length,etc) and the correlation between root morphology and soil nutrient and water in the surface layer (0-10cm).The studies have shown that the diameter and length with two trees along with the overall trend in fine root order increases,a significant difference between the root orders(p<0.05).Root length density (RLD)and specific root length(SRL) on the contrary, the overall trend is increasing as the root order significantly decreasing (p<0.01).Coupling effects between water and fertilizers makes the diameter of 1,2,3-order Korean pine increasing significantly(P<0.05).Coupling effects between water and fertilizers increase diameter of Japanese larch fine root.but the increasing degree is not significant than water reducing and fertilization measures.Coupling effects between water and fertilizers reducing the length of Korean pine fine root of 1,2order, but the difference is not significant (P>0.05,they also increase the length of 4-order root significantly (P<0.05);increase the Japanese larch length of 3,5-order, but the difference is not significant (P>0.05).and reduce the Japanese larch length of 1,2,5 order,increase the Japanese larch length of 3,4 order,the difference is not significantly (P>0.05).Coupling effects between water and fertilizers increase the 1-5 order special root length of Korean pine (P<0.05),reduce the variation of special root length, they also increase the special root length of 1,2,4-order larch,the difference is not significant(P<0.05).Coupling effects between water and fertilizers reduces the fine root of Korean pine,but not significant (P<0.05),the measures of Coupling effects between water and fertilizers reducing the biomass is similar as the fertilization and water reducing.
