Eperythrozoonosis is a zoonosis caused by Eperythrozoon suis which parasitizes in surface of erythrocytes, blood plasma and bone marrow. The disease is implicated in causing anemia, jaundice and fever. Eperythrozoonosis causes great economic losses in livestock industries, and has become a serious threat to human health. Moreover, Eperythrozoonosis is suspected of suppressing the host's immune response, leading to an increased proneness to infection with other infectious agents.Immunopotentiator can enhance the immune response when used alone or simultaneously with antigen. There are many types of immunopotentiators, and the ability of immune regulation is different. When pigs are infected with Eperythrozoon suis, their immune response are suppressed. Using immunopotentiator can enhance the immunity of the pigs, decurtate the course and prevent mixed infections. It is important for the prevention and treatment of Eperythrozoonosis. In order to investigate the effect of Eperythrozoon suis on special immunological function in piglets, compare the regulating effects of different immunopotentiators on immune level of sickly piglets, and select the best immunopotentiator as accessory treatment drug to Eperythrozoonosis, three immunopotentiators were selected, including Sposknikovan, APS and Levamisole. 20 healthy Large White were divided into 5 groups randomly in the experiment. The treated groups and positive control group were infected artificially with Eperythrozoon suis, and the model of artificial infection was established. The treated groups were treated with Sposknikovan, APS and Levamisole individually. The other group was negative control group. Six parameters of cell and humoral immune were assesed, including formation ratio of Ea一rosettes, T lymphocyte transformation ratio, antibody titer of swine pest, spleen index, number of lymphocytes and histologic changes of immune organs. As a result, compared with the negative control group, the formation ratio of Ea一rosettes, the T lymphocyte transformation ratio, the antibody titer of swine pest, the spleen index, and the number of lymphocytes in positive group were all decreased. Histopathological changes were observed in immune organs (spleen and lymph node), and lymphocyte amount was decreased. However, the six immune parameters in the treated groups were all increased compared with the positive group. In conclusion, Eperythrozoonosis can suppress the special immunological function of piglets. The three immunopotentiators can all increase the special immune response, and APS was the best one.
