A Clinical Study On The Relationship Between Depression And Thyroid Hormone In Elderly Patients With Depression

Objective To explore the correlation of depression and thyroid hormone of the patients with depression in old age.Methods Using self control study method, 60 patients with depression merging hypothyroidism in old age were all given Sertraline treatment,after they were in hospital, the therapy time last 4weeks. Before and after therapy, the state of an illness of the patients were evaluated using HAMD, The concentration of T3、T4、FT3、FT4、TSH were detected using ELISA, and the relation of between HAMD and thyroid hormones was analyzed.Results Before therapy, the score of HAMD T3、T4、FT3、FT4、TSH of the parents with depression in old age were respectively(31.35±4.17),(1.08±0.38)、(52.37.±3.42),(2.96±0.43),(7.93±0.58),(5.37±0.46),after therapy, the score of HAMD T3、T4、FT3、FT4、TSH of the parents with depression in old age were respectively(13.67±2.19),(2.11±0.71),(56.15±5.28),(4.67±0.38),(12.59±0.66),(3.19±0.64).Correlation analysis showed, there was significant correlation between HAMD and T3、T4、FT3、FT4、TSH(P<0.01).Conclusion There was correlation between depression and thyroid hormones, Psychiatric clinicians should cure depression in old age comprehensively.
