Objective:The objective of this study was to find the possible role of soluble cytotoxic T lymphocyte associated antigen- 4(s CTLA-4) in the formation of Sero-resistance in early syphilis patients.Methods:1. There were three groups in this study. Group A: the serofast syphilis patients; Group B: the syphilis patients who had negative results after treatment; Group C: the healthy people as controls 2. The serum levels of s CTLA-4 were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) in 60 serofast syphilis patients(group A), compared with 20 syphilis patients who had negative results after treatment(group B)and 20 healthy people as controls(group C). And we also compared the level of s CTLA-4 with the serum fixed drop(RPR test) and the stage of syphilis. Results:The level of s CTLA-4 was significantly higher in group A than in those two controls(P<0.05), however there was no significant difference between group B and group C( P>0.05). And there is no direct correlation between the level of s CTLA-4 and the RPR titers and the stage of syphilis( P>0.05).Conclusion:The Soluble cytotoxic T lymphocyte associated antigen- 4 probably contributes to the formation of sero-resistance in early syphilis patients. |
