| Objects:To analyze the expression of FGF19in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and adjacent tissues, and then investigate clinical significance of that gene. Methods:A total of209HCC samples with radical resection operations were recruited through NO.401Hospital of PLA from January2003to December2009. All enrolled cases have paraffin-embedded HCC and the adjacent tissues, as long as complete clinical and pathological data, and more than five years follow-up data. After transforming all paraffin-embedded tissues into tissue microarray, Immunohisto-chemistry method was employed to examine the expression level of FGF19in HCC and adjacent tissues. The relationship between FGF19protein expressions and clinicopathological features was analyzed by the chi-square test or Fisher exact probability. The survival curve was drawn by the Kaplan-Meier method and Cox model was used to analyzed factors that influenced the survival. Results:In our study, many factors including tumor diameter, number, boundary, capsule, tumor thrombus in the portal vein, lymph node metastasis and cell differentiation have affected survival time after hepatectomy of HCC. The rate of high expression of FGF19was66.1%(138/209) in HCC, which were significantly higher than46.9%(98/209) that in adjacent tissues with rate of46.9%(98/209)(P<0.05). The high expression of FGF19was related to tumor capsule and tumor boundary (P<0.05). But the expression of FGF19has no significant difference in different sex, age, serum AFP level, HBV-DNA, ascites, tumor diameter, number, lymph nodes metastasis; portal vein tumor thrombus, TNM staging, BCLC staging and cell differentiation team(P>0.05). The expression of FGF19protein is a very important factor affecting the prognosis of HCC.The overall survival in high expression of FGF19group is significantly lower than that in low expression group (PO.05).Conclusions FGF19play an important role in the carcinogenesis and development of HCC, and high protein expressipn FGF19might closely related to survival time of postoperative patients. FGF19might be a potentially prognosis prediction factor for HCC. |
