Professor Zhang Shukan 's Clinical Experience In Treating Allergic Rhinitis

Objective:With the development of global industrialization process, the pollution of the environment is becoming worse, so that the incidence of allergic rhinitis shows a gradually rising trend, at about 10%-25%.A guideline issued by World Health Organization (WHO), 《Allergic Rhinitis and its impact on Asthma》, proposed the treatment of allergic rhinitis. In recent years, traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has attracted many scholars to study the use of Chinese medicine in preventing and treating allergic rhinitis. Professor Zhang Shunan is a TCM doctor, and he engaged in clinical work for nearly 30 years. This paper summarizes his experience in the treatment of allergic rhinitis to provide more ideas for the Chinese traditional medicine on the treatment of allergic rhinitis.Methods:This paper is mainly divided into two parts, the first part is reviewed, mainly for traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine in the treatment of allergic rhinitis, the second part is the summary of experience. In this paper, I mainly use two methods to analyze the experience:literature research and clinical case analysis. By the two methods, I have summarized the unique ideas of Professor Zhang Shunan’s diagnosis standards, the principle of treatment, and common Chinese medicines about AR.Results:Professor Zhang Shunan analyzed the patients’symptoms and disease characteristics, then puted forward the etiology and pathogenesis of allergic rhinitis was yang deficiency. Professor Zhang Shunan holds that yang deficiency is one of the most important pathogenic factors. Thus, my emntor raised the application of warming yang and unblocking nasal orifices combined with regulating zang-fu organs as the principle of treatment.And he proposed "Allergic Decoction"as the basic decoction,which was consisted of yinchaihu, wumei, fangfeng, wuweizi, ganjiang, lujiaojiao, xixin, cangerzi, xinyi, zhigancao, ebushicao. Conclusion:the etiology and pathogenesis of allergic rhinitis is yang deficiency. The basic pathogenesis of allergic rhinitis is asthenia in origin and excess in superficiality, and the asthenia in origin is yang deficiency. Zang Fu organs are focused on lung, spleen and kidney. Therefor, Warming Yang is crucial for the treatment of allergic rhinitis. Clinical treatment of allergic rhinitis lays stress on the combination of illness-syndrome- symptom, and "allergic Decoction"can improve patients’ allergic constitution, lujiaojiao, ganjiang, xixin can warm yang, canerzi, ebushicao, xinyi can lead medicines to the location of the disease.
