Objective: To evaluate the clinical significance of the blood perfusion combinedhem-ofiltration treatment’s therapeutic effect and procalcitonin level’s changesbefore and after the treatment in sepsis patientsMethods:30sepsis patients were enrolled for study. The patients were diagnosedby the standard of American critical disease association in2001.All patients areolder than18without obvious contraindications of hemoperfusion, and receive thetreat-ment more than72hours,and acute physiology and chronic health evaluationscore is higher than15,and receive family’s consent.Patients were randomly dividedinto2groups: treatment group was treated with combination of hemofiltration andhemo-perfusion; control group was treated with traditional treatment.Observed theprocal-citonin level’s and sepsis-Related organ failure assessment score’s first changebef-ore and after the treatment. Results: There is a weak correlation between procalcitonin level andsepsis-Related organ failure assessment score, procalcitonin level can not be used todiagnose sepsis and reflect the severity of sepsis. The procalcitonin level’scomparison between treat-ment group and control group before treatment showedno significant difference (P>0.05),the procalcitonin level of treatment group is lowerthan control group after the first treatment(P<0.05). procalcitonin T could be partlyeliminated by hemoperfusion. There is a linear correlation before and after thetreatment between the sepsis-Related organ failure assessment score and theprocalcitonin T level. Conclusion: The seurm procalcitonin level can not be used to reflect the severityand prognosis of sepsis. But the continuous detection of the procalcitonin level’schanges could be partly evaluated the sepsis condition.
