| Objective: To investigate the effect of acute hypoxia on expression of glucose transporters ofliver and skeletal muscle in rats. Methods: Thirty female Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group and hypoxiagroup. The hypoxia group was put into low-pressure oxygen chamber similar to5000maltitude for7days,after which blood and tissue sample of2groups was collected. The bloodsample was taken out from abdominal aorta and separated into serum, the tissue from liver andskeletal muscle was fixed in10%formaldehyde solution. The fasting blood glucose, serumlevel of insulin and glucagon, the protein expression of glucose transporters were determinedrespectively with glucometer, ELISA and Immunohistochemical method. Results: Compared with control group, the body weight, level of fasting blood glucose andserum insulin of hypoxia group were significantly decreased(respectively, p=0.001,p<0.001,p<0.05), the expression level of GLUT1of liver were significantly increased(p<0.001); butthe serum level of glucagons and GLUT4expression were no significantly effected(p>0.05).The correlation analysis indicated that there are negative relation of GLUT1with the fastingblood glucose and the body weight(respectively, r=-0.619,r=-0.369). The step regressionanalysis showed that the expression level of GLUT1were mainly influenced by the thefasting blood glucose. Conclusion: The different expression of GLUT in acute hypoxia enviorment may be anacclimatization of body to the changes of glucose metabolism which has a important role forthe survival ability. |
