Ground covers are an important factor in landscaping plant. They can improve the quality of afforest. It is clear that the research about shade-tolerance of ground covers benefit for optimizing of planting design and landscape ecology. In the experiment, the four ground cover plants came from around ya'an darkness environment were selected as experimental materials, and Fescue rubra was selected as comparison. This paper researched the microclimate, plant growth including leaf length, leaf width etc and physiological indexes under four shading levels (0%,30%,50%,70% of full sunlight, represented by CK, T1, T2, T3 respectively). The result were summarized as follows:1. Shading not only affected on light intensity apparently, but also decreased land temperature 0-15 centimeters below ground level, increased water content of soil 0-40 centimeters below ground level. On the others hand, it could decrease air temperature and increase air relative humidity.2. The leaf length, leaf width etc and the shading grads existed positive correlation. Under shade condition, the leaf length, leaf width and plant height increased.3. The SLW significantly decreased under shading. Reineckea carnea's dry matter content decreased least, at Tl, T2, T3 treatment the content decreased 0.0126, 0.0308, 0.0611 respectively. Chlorophytum comosum's content decreased most, at Tl, T2, T3 treatment the content decreased 0.1137, 0.1288, 0.1349 respectively.4. The leaf water and the shading grads existed positive correlation. Leaf water content of all species under shading significantly increased. Hosta ventricosa's leaf water...
