A new oligoculm wheat line H461, was found in the progeny from the hybrid between SW94-30921× yiyuan 2. The genetic characteristics of H461 were evaluated by agronomic characters analysis, A-PAGE, SDS-PAGE and SSR marker. The main results showed as following:1. The agronomic characters investigation and inheritance analysis of H461, Chuannong 16 which a wheat cultivar with more spikes per plant, and their F1, F2, BC1, BC-2, F3 populations. The results showed that except the tiller number, the agronomic characters of H461 such as spikelets, grain number and grain weight per spike, 1000 grain weight, spike length and plant height were significant higher than those of Chuannong 16. The heterosis of the agronomic characters were positive in F1. It seemed that the few tiller was controlled by two major effect nucleus genes with several minor genes, one of which was a suppressing gene, and was not affected by maternal plants.2. Genetic variations of seed storage protein composition between H461 and Chuannong 16 were evaluated. The composition of gliadins, analyzed by the acid polyacrylamide gel eletrophoresis (A-PAGE), indicated that 10 bands were polymorphic between H461 and Chuannong 16.
