Improving animal reproductivity is an aim of biology of reproduction , also, an question which were be resolved in husbandry. The capacity of steroidogenesis is an important factor effecting animal reproductivity. In the past fifty years, regualory meachanism of steroidogenesis was always a focus of endocrinology using methods in vitro or in vivo, many studies of gonadotropin regualated steroidogenesis in chronic reaction period, which was a base meachanism on regulatory of steroidogenesis. Recently, some studies showed that acute regulatory meachanism of steroidogenesis is also an important factor effecting animal reproduction, but these studies focused on experiment animals or adult animals. Swines were a breed with high reproductivity, so the onset of steroidogenic acute regulatory (StAR) protein gene expression during gonad development in piglet was studied in this experiment. The rate-limiting and regulated step in steroid biosynthesis is the intramitochondrial transport of cholesterol, a process that is mediated by the steroidogenic acute regulatory (StAR) protein. The importance of StAR has been illustrated by analyses of patients with lipoid congenital adrenal hyperplasia (lipoid CAH), an autosomal recessive disorder that markedly disrupts the synthesis of all gonadal and adrenal steroids. Molecular and physiopathological analyses have demonstrated that alterations in the StAR gene are the only known cause of lipoid CAH. Furthermore, StAR knockout mice have been generated and display a phenotype that is essentially identical to the human condition. Recent advances in tissue-specific and hormone-induced expression of the StAR protein provide insights into a number of human endocrinological health issues including developmental and reproductive abnormalities. The studies of StAR gene before were concentrated on the animal embryos and adult phase,...
