RT-PCR and SMART RACE were performed to obtain Dmrt1 (southern catfish Dmrt1, scDmrt1) and its isoform (isf) in Silurus meridionalis. Full length cDNA of scDmrt1 consists of 1347basepairs (bp), containing an open reading frame(ORF) which encodes a poly-peptide with 295 amino acids, a polyadnenylation signal (AATAAA) and a poly (A) tail. Full length cDNA of scDmrt1 isf consists of 1513bp, containing an ORF which encodes a poly-peptide with 271 amino acids and a poly(A) tail. ScDmrt1 and its isoform contain a typical character shared by other DM genes—DM-domain. Alignment shows scDmrt1 along with its isoform are most similar to that of Northern catfish Dmrt1. All of them belong to the Dmrt1 group, different from Dmrt2-8 groups.ScDmrt1 isf was found different from scDmrt1 only at the 3' end by sequence analysis, with...
