From the studies on soil principal components of the typical forest communities in Xishuangbanna, the following results are given:1. The soil components of typical forest communities have distinct layers. The content of soil organic matter, total nitrogen, total phosphor, available nitrogen and phosphor concentrate in the 0-10 cm layer. The soil total potassium has not conspicuously disparity in different layers , but slightly increase with soil depth. Total phosphor is significantly relatded to soil pH, alkalescent soil has higher total phosphor than acidic soil.2. There are four main vegetation types in Xishuangbanna. According to the soil pH and habitats, we can sort the typical forest communities into two groups: the group on acidic soil, including Shorea chinensis forest, Terminalia myriocarpa+Pometia tomentosa forest, Antiaris toxicaria forest, Gironniera subaequalis forest, Chukrasia tabularis+Lasiococca comberi+Celtis tetrandra forest, Mastixia euonymoides -Phoebe megacalyx forest, Parachmeria yunnanensis-Gymnanthes remota forest, Metadina trichotoma-Syzysium cathayense forest, Castanopsis fleuryi-Aporusa yunnanensis forest, Castanopsis echinocarpa+Schima wallichii forest and Schima wallichii+Lithocarpus fohaiensis forest; the group on alkalescent soil, including Lannea coromandelica+Sterculia pexa forest, Anogeissus acuminata forest and Cleistanthus sumatranus forest.3. Soil organic matter, total nitrogen and available nitrogen are the main soil fertility factors. We could sort these typical communities into three groups based on the soil fertility.
